Weavers provides free meal delivery service
Weavers, a popular community pub in Condorrat, is offering a free meal delivery service to local residents during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Pub partner, Kieran White, has been delivering meals to be cooked at home, as well as delivering shopping and other essentials.
The pub, owned by Hawthorn Leisure, a community pub operator which owns more than 700 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales, is hoping that by offering this service, they are able to protect the vulnerable in their community, who are now quarantining following updated government guidelines.
Kieran said: “We felt that it was our responsibility as a community pub, to help support our community during this period. We were aware that many local people were self-isolating, and wanted to ensure that they had the essentials. We have started providing 3 meals per week for free, to 30 households in the area, and also delivering basic shopping. People are also able to pay more and receive up to 7 meals per week.”
Hawthorn Leisure CEO, Mark Davies, said about Weavers: “We are so pleased that our partners are continuing to work alongside the community to provide support during this difficult time. It is more important than ever that our pubs are community hubs, so we urge everyone in the Hawthorn Leisure team to pull together and continue to support those in need.”
Hawthorn Leisure has helped a Penrith businessman achieve his ambition of saving one of the town’s pubs from closure.
The Greyhound Hotel, Bar & Restaurant in Matlock has been named Derbyshire Pub & Bar of the Year, putting it through to the National Pub & Bar Awards grand final.
